SAN ANTONIO (Sept. 9, 2025) — Evidence In Motion (EIM) has expanded into nursing education for the first time, partnering with Edgewood University, located in Madison, Wisconsin.
The collaboration adds an accelerated post-baccalaureate Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) in a hybrid format, offered alongside Edgewood’s long-standing residential post-baccalaureate BSN program.
In the new hybrid ABSN, students complete 58 credits in 12 months through online coursework, clinical experiences with local preceptors and three on-campus lab immersions in Madison. The format does not require relocation, expanding access for students in rural areas where shortages are most severe. The first cohort launched in August.
Meeting an Urgent Nursing Shortage
Hospitals and communities nationwide face sustained demand for registered nurses (RNs). The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects about 194,500 RN job openings each year from 2023 to 2033.
A July 2024 report from the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development forecasts a shortfall of 12,000 to 19,000 nurses by 2040, driven by retirements and an aging population. Rural communities face an even greater challenge, as limited program access and the need to relocate prevent many students from pursuing a nursing degree.
“EIM’s entry into nursing education is an important milestone in our commitment to expanding access to high-quality health care,” said David Eby, CEO of Evidence In Motion. “By applying our hybrid, accelerated model to Edgewood’s nursing program, we are preparing more clinicians to deliver competent, compassionate care where it’s needed most.”
Strengthening the Rural Nursing Pipeline
Research shows that nurses who complete clinical rotations in rural settings are significantly more likely to remain and practice in those communities. By leveraging EIM’s national clinical network, the program enables students to train in their communities and strengthen the rural workforce pipeline.
“At Edgewood University, our mission has always called us to respond to the needs of our times,” said Andrew P. Manion, president of Edgewood University. “This partnership with Evidence In Motion allows us to continue to prepare health care professionals who combine clinical excellence with compassion and service and expand access where nursing education has been most limited.”
Accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and approved by the Wisconsin Board of Nursing, Edgewood University nursing graduates achieved a 99.1% NCLEX-RN first-time pass rate in 2023, well above the national average.
